RECENSIONE: SCHEGGE DI VERITA' di Monica Lombardi

TITOLO: SCHEGGE DI VERITA'

SERIE: Schegge #1

AUTORE: Monica Lombardi

PUBBLICAZIONE: 28 giungo 2016 Amazon Publishing

GENERE: Gialli e Thriller

VOTO: 5 STELLE

BLOG REVIEW: GOOD BOY by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

TITLE: Good Boy

SERIES: WAGS #1

AUTHOR: Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

PUBLICATION: January 31st 2017 by Elle Kennedy Inc

MY RATING: 5 STARS

Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.

But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?

Caution: May cause accidental aspiration of tea or coffee. Do not read in a public place where loud laughter is inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppy cuddling and a snarky pair of underwear

Let’s start saying that my reading time is at night, in bed. And this time my husband didn’t like me to read. Every page I read there were loud laughing and giggling.
Blake and Jess, the two main characters, are funny and super sweet and sexy!

If you have read HIM and US, you have already met Blake and Jess. Blake is Wes’ teammate and Jess is Jamie’s sister. In these books it’s clear that something is going on between the two.

And in Good Boy we have their story.

Blake is always the funny boy, he lives his life at full speed, and he seems to have no seriousness … except when it comes to Jess. I loved his positive approach to life and love and his determination to reach his goals.
“…because Blake doesn’t do anything half-assed. He laughs the way he lives his life – loud and fierce and without inhibition. He fucks that way, too.”

Now is it clear who Blake is?

Jessica, on the other hand, is in a phase of her life where she feels and sees herself as a failure. No jobs seem to be the right ones, no choices seem to be right, and having fun and a relationship with Blake is not what she’s looking for at the moment. But when she thinks to have finally found her way, nothing and no one is stopping her. She’s stubborn and determined to reach her goal.

But who can resist to a guy like Blake? Impossible!

“A date with me is like a trip to Disneyland. You’d fucking love it. Because everyone loves Disneyland.”

CHEEZUS! You MUST read this funny, sweet and sexy (very sexy!) romance. And, useless to say, Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy have created a new super series!

“Wow. You aim high, huh?” (- Jess)“For the stars, babe. Always aim for the stars.” (- Blake)

RELEASE BLITZ: Regret by Bella J

  REGRET

by
Bella J
RELEASE BLITZ

BLURB
When it comes to women, Hunter Keaton has rules.

Those rules ensure his life stays uncomplicated and controlled. Control is what he craves, what he needs to keep his inner demons quiet.

Private investigator by day, his life is nothing but a pit of regret, devoid of any and every emotion.

Hired to find an elusive runaway—a wild, hot-headed woman with sinfully enticing curves—Hunter’s self-control is pushed to the limit. Scarlet Woods challenges him in ways that have him wanting to break his own damn rules.

But she has secrets—secrets he’s determined to uncover. He just didn’t count on getting his own past dragged into what turns out to already be a deadly game of lies.

This is not a love story. This is not a tale of how love conquers all.

This is a story of how two people equally shattered by their pasts realize that two broken souls can’t make a whole.

EXCERPT:
Prologue
July 1, 2009
The minute Hunter jumped off his motorcycle, he threw his helmet to the ground and stood frozen on the spot.
This isn’t real. It can’t be real.
What seemed like hundreds of red and blue lights flashed in the background. Paramedics and rescue services rushed past him yelling out orders, frantically trying to get the scene under control. While keeping his eyes set on what was happening in front of him, he slowly made his way closer, hearing nothing but the sound of his entire world slowly falling, heading straight to the darkest pits of hell.
Every molecule inside his body was praying, pleading to whatever God there was to let him just wake up.
Wake the fuck up!
Inside he was screaming, shouting, crying, shrieking, going crazy—yet not a single word or sound escaped him while he just kept on walking toward his worst fucking nightmare.
The smell of gas, burned rubber, and…death filled his nostrils, but he just kept putting one foot in front of the other while his chest started to ache, yet his heart continued to hope.
The closer he got, the clearer he could see the angelic blue eyes that made him believe in magic. In his mind he saw the eyes that had become the life in his veins, the pulse that kept his heart beating. Those blues were his hope, his heaven…his fucking magic in a world filled with nothing but greed, loss, and pain.
“Sir? Sir, you need to move.”
Hunter stopped as a man moved in front of him, yet he didn’t take his eyes off the view that could only be described as the end of the fucking world. His world anyway. But there was still hope, there was still that sliver of a chance that what he thought he saw wasn’t real at all.
“Sir, please. You need to get behind the line now!”
He couldn’t move, not even if he wanted to. He needed to be sure, needed to know if his life had come to an end. If his world had collapsed into nothing but a big black hole.
He needed to know—now!
With a hard shove, he pushed the man in front of him to the side and rushed forward, unable to slow down. He ran as fast as he could, pushing every goddamn person out of his way.
Every brick that had been laid on his path to happiness during the past few months crumbled beneath his feet into nothing but dust of regret and pain. His heart was no longer beating, it was thrashing violently against his ribs while he struggled to take a breath.
Someone came from the side and grabbed him around his shoulders, pulling him back, but he fought with every ounce of strength he had to get free. A second pair of arms grabbed him around his waist, trying to pull him down to the ground. Hunter wrestled with whoever was trying to keep him from finding out what he desperately needed to know, all the while he never took his eyes off the nightmare in front of him. With a violent jerk he was brought down to the ground, slammed onto the gravel.
“I need to know!”
He repeated that same damn sentence a hundred times…a thousand times. “Please God! Please God! I need to fucking know!”
He didn’t give up. He fought the arms keeping him down with all he had in him.
Then something glinted in the sun, grabbing his attention, and for a moment he stilled.
“Beat the odds.” He heard that voice like it was coming from right next to him.
When he narrowed his eyes and saw the necklace laying in the road next to the wreckage, he stopped fighting. Every muscle stopped working, his heartbeat pounding in his throat. Like a disease, ice spread through every bone of his body while hope drained from his soul. Everything around him faded into nothing…except for the necklace that finally confirmed what he had known since the second he arrived.
“Beat the odds, Hunter.”
And that was the moment Hunter Keaton ceased to exist.

BLOG REVIEW: The Pass Through by Gloria Herrmann

TITLE: The Pass Through

AUTHOR: Gloria Herrmann

PUBLICATION: Published January 12th 2017

MY RATING: 5 STARS

Maybe a wild ride in a shiny black Mustang convertible, and some mother-daughter bonding is exactly what Dr. Kathryn Bailey needs, when she agrees to a road trip with her mother. Escaping the aftermath of a nasty breakup, and seeking to heal her broken heart, Kathryn has no idea what awaits her in the forested mountains of Elk Horn, WA.

While traveling back to her favorite childhood destination, a run-in with the sexy town sheriff sets Kathryn on an unexpected course; one that may very well change her life, especially after becoming witness to something only spoken of in the hushed voices of local legend.

When a horrific event rocks the sleepy, rural town, only days after her arrival, Kathryn is immediately drawn into a mystical world of sacred legend and folklore. Suddenly, she must question not only her eyes, but her beliefs.

As she comes to terms with these newfound experiences, will she come to know that with love, believing isn’t always seeing?

Gloria Herrmann never stops to surprise me. I don’t know why she was so worried about this book, because The Pass Through is an amazing book.
Slightly different from her usual sweet romance, The Pass Through is beautifully written and so far this year one of the best book I’ve read.

Why do you have to read this book? Because is an emotional rollercoaster, because it makes you wondering about those eternal questions of life: Is there an afterlife? Is there an Heaven? Do Angels exist? Is there a supernatural power ruling life and death? Do I believe or not?

This book is the story of Kathryn torn between two men, Lucas and Armel, that are the symbols of real and supernatural.

Armel has traded his soul to the Angel of Death, to the Great Taker, to save his family and tribe, and now he’s eternally forced to take dead souls to The Pass Through.

Lucas is a cop living a very real life and not such a believer, he believes only in what he sees.

Kathryn is a doctor, living a very real life, but she’s the only one who can see Armel. Why?
What is the Great Scheme behind all of this?

I have my personal answer to those questions: LOVE. Love makes Kathryn believe in something greater and supernatural. Love makes Armel believe that his soul he’s not forever lost. Love makes Lucas to trust without conditions.

And around that triangle there is the story of a mother and daughter: Kathryn, Kathryn’s mother and grandmother.

The storyline is engaging and inspiring, and talks about Faith, family bond, Love, Life and Death, and second chances. It’s a journey that takes the reader from Earth to Heaven.
As usual Gloria Herrmann has the magic touch to describe the characters and the surrounding in such a vivid and real way that this book can be perfect for a screenplay.

It’s hard to write a review after reading a book like this that has given me so many emotion. Everything I would write, it won’t give justice to it. I think that the best way to appreciate The Pass Through is to read it!
Gloria Herrmann is a romance author living in beautiful eastern Washington. She is an avid reader and lover of words, and becoming an author has been a dream come true for her. She still pinches herself all the time and wonders how she got so lucky.

Her debut novel, Loving Liam, the first book in The Cloverleaf Series was released in October of 2015, and three more titles from that series were released by Limitless Publishing. Gloria wrote Single in Seattle, a three-book erotic contemporary series that will be released by Totally Bound in 2017.
