Because love deserves a second chance.

After being cast out by his family, Nico leaves his home town and his one true love Ryan behind. A meeting of a fellow outcast leads him down a dark and ultimately dangerous road. Discarded and left for dead, Nico is found by a man who helps him turn his life around, but even with success and fame Nico is lost without his love by his side.

The chance sighting of a Ten Year School Reunion on a social media site gives him the excuse to return home. He needs to apologize to the man he still loves, hoping Ryan will accept it. Deep down he wants Ryan back but imagines him married to a man who deserves him, not a coward that ran.

‘The ache for Ryan has been so strong and so real it has taken every ounce of strength I have to keep away, to let him lead his life without me. With me being a deadbeat, a loser and no good for anyone. Or so I’ve been told.’

Ryan retires from the army after the death of his mother, settling down again in his home town and his new life as a cop. Still single, his heart has always belonged to the one man he wasn’t able to keep. As the reunion gets closer Ryan searches for his man’s name as the list of attendees grows…

'It’s there…Nico Angeles. He’s coming, he’s coming home!'

Will they be able to forget the past or has the last ten years apart been too long?

Warning: Contains explicit hot gay sex and strong language.

Intended for audiences over 18 years of age.

ARC received from the Author in exchange for an honest review

Do you love hot, sexy men? Well, this is the book for you!

Ryan has been left by Nico, the boy he loved, with a broken heart and without an explanation. Ryan joined the Army and then went back to his home town to be a cop. After 10 years, when the The Ten Year Reunion brings Nico to town again, everything changes.

"My heart has always belonged to one man and one man only. The man I've just seen for the first time in ten long years."
Nico is welcomed back with a brutal assault and Ryan is his savior. Now they have a second chance. The secrets of their past are going to be revealed and they can finally be free to love each other again.

But sometimes the past is lurking, ready to cover the future with its shadows.
Will Ryan and Nico be strong enough to face the shadows of their past?

"Let me take away any bad memories, let us make new ones."
To discover what will happen to these two sexy men I have to wait the next book.
In this book there isn’t only great sex. It’s also a book about rejection, friendship, loyalty and love.
Nico has been rejected by his own parents because he’s gay. What? Ok, I’m a mother of two teenagers boys, I can understand the uncomfortable feeling to know your son is gay, the worry about his future in a society that won’t never be ready and open to accept “diversity” in any form. But to kick him to the curb? And then blame him to be the reason for his father suicide? This should not happen, ever. A teenager will be forever devastated and ruined by this action. This is the age where they need to be supported and guided, even if we, as parents, don’t agree with their choices. And when the worst happens, and you are alone, bad choices could be made. Nico has found a guardian angel (Franco) that helps him to find his peace of mind. But I'm thinking at all the young boys that are not so lucky and spent their lives feeling unworthy to be loved.

"I had a great home life; my parents were kind and loving so nothing prepared me for their reaction. How could they love me one minute then deny and reject me the next? I shake off the thought. I have tried not to look back, even when looking ahead has been hard and dark many a time."
Ryan hopes to find something good joining the Army. And he finds friends, that become like brothers. The Army, the War, forms unbreakable bonds that survive also to death.

I liked how Ryan and Nico are ready to face their past and painful secrets to build something strong to share together. Love and a new life together.

"We have both fought battles and demons and we are stronger men for it. Together and apart."
And I hated Palmer (Ryan and Nico ex classmate) and his "gang". They are adults but still like teenagers bullies. Bad attitude and habits are hard to die!
Even if I found the writing not well refined, I gave the book 5 stars because I loved Ryan and Nico together. They're hot and the sexy scenes are to die for.
Warning:  book self-combustion can happen!

And the storyline has a great potential. The end of the book with a cliff-hanger is not so bad, this means that I will read more Ryan and Nico in the future.
JJ Harper is definitely my “new author discovery” of this year.
P.S. for the author: JJ I’d like to see a picture of Nico’s tattoo!

RELEASE DAY AND REVIEW: Earning A Ring by Kristina Mathews

TITLE: Earning A Ring

AUTHOR: Kristina Mathews

SERIES: More Than A Game book #4

PUBLICATION: January 19th 2016 by Lyrical Shine

MY RATING: 4 STARS****

For Rachel Parker, covering the San Francisco Goliaths is the perfect opportunity to launch her career as a serious reporter. But she didn’t bargain on Bryce Baxter, the team’s star shortstop, tempting her more non-professional aspirations. After tearing up the base paths with him, she finds herself with a little problem, and Bryce might be the only man who can save the game.

Bryce Baxter should be living the dream. His team just won the World Series and he just signed the multi-year contract of his career. But his field of dreams has been overtaken by a fiery redheaded reporter, who’s bearing a news flash that will change both of their lives forever…

ARC Received from NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review

Because Love is more than a game! And Bryce Baxter has learned his lesson in the wrost way.
He has all: he's gorgeous, with the Goliath Team he has won the World Series, he's an MVP player and he has just signed the contract of his life. But something seems to be missing in his life. His fisrt marriage has left him with the feeling to have failed if not as a husband but as a father of a nine years daughter he's left behind. None of this is only his fault, his ex wife is not so easy to handle, she's more interested in his money.

Rachel Parker is the reporter for the Goliath baseball team. She loves her job and she's very good at it and eveyone respects her. She's determined, professional, but she has a thing for the gorgeous player with the Midas touch, Bryce Baxter. But in her private life she has always felt as an outsider in her own family, that's why she doesn't trust easily. The attraction between the two of them is undeniable and they start to have some after games encounters.

When Rachel discovers to be pregnant of Bryce's child she faces the situation telling him the truth and expecting for him to run away. For Bryce, history seems to repeat itself, but this time the feelings he has for Rachel are genuine and he wants to do the right thing. This time he wants to be a good husband and father, to prove he's not a failure as a man.
"But baseball is a humbling game. Success is the exception, not the rule."
He knows that Rachel doesn't trust him and with a spectacular proposal at which she can't say no, they get married. And now he has to work hard earning that ring.

A twist of events brings Bryce back to his ex wife and daugheter. This is his chance to right the wrongs and be the father he always wanted to be.

Will Rachel and Bryce find a way to make her marriage work and be a big happy family?
"As an older, wiser veteran, he now understood that he wasn't that special. Baseball, like marriage, was a team game. It wasn't up to just one person to ensure success."
Kristina Mathews is undoubtedly an expert in baseball. I love how she describes the play, the "behind the scenes" of this amazing game, with its complicated rules.
I loved how Bryce is always respectful of his team, his friend and himself, how he doesn't take for granted his fame, his big contract. I love how much he works for his career and to become a better man.
Rachel is lovely but sometimes she's a little bit repetitive. I didn't like how she always assumed the wrost about Bryce. At the end she impressed me with her undestrandig Bryce family issue and her trying the best to make him happy.

I have not read book 1 and 2 yet, and I have the feeling that something is missing to me. I'm really curious to know more about Johnny “The Monk” Scottsdale and Alice Harrison, and Hunter Collins and Marco Santiago couples, that in this book are montioned.

A good book, the storyline is well written and engaging. If you love baseball and romance this is the right book to read.

It’s there…Nico Angeles. He’s coming, he’s coming home!
Will they be able to forget the past or has the last ten years apart been too long?

“Come on, I’m sure my jeans will fit you, although you’ve gotten well-muscled up.” I know he’s going to know I’ve checked him out now but I don’t care, I want him but do I want him to know I’ve been following his career? No not yet, I want to find out if I have a chance of getting him back before I embarrass myself with that admission. Still, after all these years I want him so damn much. I can smell the scent of his skin as he walks past and my head is full of dirty thoughts, of things I want to do to him, my mouth waters like he is the most delectable flavor I’ve ever had. Crap, now my dick is getting hard again I’m only just back to normal after my boner in the kitchen, of course I noticed his. I mean; it was too huge to miss, that seems to have muscled up as much as his body has.
This thought makes me laugh out loud and I see him raise an eyebrow quizzically at me, I’m not sharing that thought with him so I just shake my head. I can’t get rid of my smile though, it’s well and truly plastered to my face. I can see he is nervous as he looks around my room; he takes in the cool colors contrasting with the dark wood furniture. As his eyes rest on my extra-large king size bed he blushes just slightly, a pale rose tint blooms over his cheeks, is he thinking the same dirty thoughts as me?
As he stands still and silent, I can look over his bruised face, and my anger builds again, the fucking assholes! Shit, they have always ignored my sexual orientation, I think that’s because of my past and now I’m a cop, so I thought they had gotten over it, had finally matured. Obviously not.
“Just some sweats will be good and a T-shirt will do, I’ve got my stuff back at the hotel.” His gaze settles back on me and he smiles shyly.
Reaching into a drawer in my dresser I pull out a pair of soft jersey boxer shorts but he shakes his head, hmm a commando kind of guy, nice. Then from another drawer I grab a black t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants and hand them over. Our fingertips touch making a jolt of electricity race up my arm, his too by the way he quickly moves away.

REVIEW: Maggie's Marriage by Gloria Hermmann

TITLE: Maggie's Marriage

AUTHOR: Gloria Hermmann

MY RATING: 5 STARS *****

Marriage is hard work, but no one ever told Maggie it would be this hard…

How did life end up so completely turned upside down? When Maggie Tremblye took her vows more than six years ago, she didn’t anticipate becoming just a wife, just a mother, and no longer…Maggie.

It’s impossible to cling to the bit of self-identity you have left when you’re someone’s everything…

Meeting and falling in love with Michael Trembley, a young and handsome attorney, was the easy part. Moving away from her family, raising their six-year-old daughter almost singlehandedly, and learning she is now pregnant again is an entirely a different story. All she wants to do is retreat back home to Birch Valley and her loud and loving family, the O’Briens. So when Maggie hits her breaking point, she takes their daughter and reluctantly leaves Michael to his endless hours at the office.

To be on top, you have to make sacrifices…

Now his perfect world is anything but. The distance from his family is a major wakeup call, but what is he willing to sacrifice to make it right?

ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review

Welcome back to Birch Valley, the place where nothing is perfect, but love conquer all!
What I really liked about this book is that the story and the characters feels real, and it's easy to relate to.
Maggie's married to Michael, a sexy and rich lawyer who wants to become a partner in his law-firm. They have a lovely daughter Melanie and everything seems perfect. But Micheal's long hours at the office, leave Maggie alone. She starts feeling trapped, lonely and homesick. She is sad, she fears that her marriage is at its end. To clear her mind and find support she, along with her daughter, seeks refuge back in Birch Valley, back to her family. Maggie could be seen as a coward, but i think that it takes courage instead. Taking distance from an unconfortable situation sometimes helps to give it the right perspective.

Micheal of course is not happy, but he's so involved in his job that he doesn't understand how he's hurting his family. Not since two negative events will force him to face his future life and save his marriage (by the way, he's hot!)

An everyday story where feellings and characters are like in real life. This book is about family and marriage values: support, communication, sacrifice, compromise and love.
Around this story we find again the O'Brien Family. I love each member! Always supportive, but also unbiased. Mary, Maggie's mother, is not happy about her daughter's decision to leave Seattle and her husband.
I loved how the author gives attention to all the characters, old and new. And we find again Liam and Rachel. In this book we see how their relationship is working (rememeber: as in real life all that glitters ain't gold!). We see again Chelsea, Rachel's bestfriend, spoiled and unpleasant at her best! And what to say about Rachel's mother? Unsupportive and avid. I'm happy Rachel is so far away from her.
But the moments I liked the most were the scenes where I have a glimpse about Patrick's past and his interaction with his family. If the next book is about him, it's will be a really great book. Patrick has a lot to tell about him and his life.
I like Gloria's style writing romance, so simple, engaging and enjoyable. I love how she shows the readers always a positive and bright side to sad and unconfortble situations.
I can't wait to read her next book!

ARC Received from Wordsmith Publicity and the author through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
There was no better way to start this new year. Never Tear Us Apart is a great book, amazing, emotional, touching. A book at some point I'd have rather closed, and yet held me captive until the end. it was hard to accept that the story of this book can be real, that all those horrible things happen in real life.
Katie and Ethan stories have broken my heart and almost scared me. I'm a mom and I can't even start to imagine that such tragedies can possibly happen also in my life.
I loved Monica Murphy's courage to write a book about child abuse in such a beatiful way, in a context where beauty and love don't exist, where pain, fear and anger erase joy and happiness.
"When you've already faced your death once, what do you have left to fear?"
The story is narrated from Katie and Will's POV, who give voice to the past, and from Katherine and Ethan's, who give voice to the present. The constant switch between POVs made the writing fluid and engaging. But the quality of this book lies in its emotions, in its cruel reality, in the way it touches your heart and mind.
I cried asking myself "How can a child, a human being, survive to such an horror, to be violeted physically, mentally and emotionally? How hard is it to lose your innocence when you're only a child and grow an adult? What kind of monster can do this?"
Katie and Ethan are the proof that survive and live a new life is possible.
I loved Katie's strength, her determination to overcome her fears and not to see herself as a victim but as a survivor. Her healing process is long, it seems to take forever only to realize that she can't truly heal and forget, that the only way to move on it's to not allow the past to rule her life.
"I've never felt truly lucky. I'm a survivor, yes. Never a victim-- God, I hate that word. But lucky? Luck is for those who narrowly miss a car accident or win the lottery, or get a job beacause the first candidate backed out at the last minute." (Katie)
Ethan (Will) has experienced a different horror but not less brutal. To survive he has buried Will and changed his name. But this doesn't change his past, doesn't delete what happend.
Katie and Ethan share a bond so deep no one can understand and yet very undestandable. They are each other strength, the light in a dark world, in an existance that I'm barely able to imagine.
"These are two people who are so deeply broken when they're alone, that they only make sense when they're together." (Monica Murphy)
At the side of Katie and Ethan's stories there is another reality: they are a target for the media. Beacuse the human being is like this: curious, starving to know all the darkest details, like there is somenthing good or funny to know and see. I don't know what is so compelling about this, but it's undeniable, fascinating.
But the victims have survived every kind of horror, they only want to forget, but the media are always there to remember, glamorizing abduction, rape, violance. Where is the line, the border, between information and morbid curiosity?
"Memories may fade, but they never really go away."
Never Tear Us Apart has left me with a broken heart and the mind full of questions.
The end was not what I expected, but I know that I will meet Katie and Ethan again.
As this is the first book of Monica Murphy I read, I don't know if it's not a conventional romance for her, but I know that is definitely a MUST READ book!
I would like to say so many things about this book, but Never Tear Us Apart is emotionally overwhelming, and when I've closed the book I felt dizzy, speechless, with a broken heart. At the same time, however, I was full of hope, trust and confidence that even in the darkest times of your life there is always a light to guide you and an angel to protect you.

 ROAR - Katy Perry

"Now I just sound ridiculous, but I really do find power in words. Written words. Books and poems and songs. Since I've always felt like I have no power, I like to look for it in other places. That way I do feel strong, at least for a little while." (Katie)
